We travelled to top of the table Navestock looking for back to back wins. Jack Ridge did the toss as skipper Davis was running late. Totham won the toss and elected to bowl first.
As he’s been doing all year D.Kennedy opened the bowling getting some nice movement and not going for much. J. Ridge playing his first game of the season opened at the other end with some impressive wheels since he’s been at uni. D.Kennedy didn’t get any reward for his consistent bowling however J.Ridge got 2 wickets one was caught on the boundary by skipper Davis.
A mention to Navestock a opening batsmen P.Sergeant who got 60 runs. He was bowled by I.Croft who is new to the third team this year due to his age of only 13. Debutant Owen bowled 9 all the way through with the first couple of overs going for way too much they anyone had hoped however, some morale boosting wickets from the others he started to scare the opposition. He ended up getting 2 wickets with 1 maiden in his spell.
Overall it was a good team perforemance in the field with good energy and vocals, apart from the dead banter provided by J.Ridge when it came to attempting to slate the opposition. We kept them below 200 with a score we believed we could chase of 185-8 from 40.
Batting didn’t go to plan! C.Kinsella(5) opened the batting with D.Kennedy(0). Jack ridge was invited to the crease earlier than expected however he also left the crease earlier than expected as he was triggered by I.Croft for a 5 ball duck. Wickets continue to fall skipper Davis managed 13 which was impressive compared to other scores. DQ on his first game back from the 2s top scored with 14.
We managed to drag the game out to the 30th over where we were unsurprising bowled out for 93. It was clear where we needed to improve at training! Navestock won by 92 runs.
Star man: DQ
