GTCC is proud to offer a wide range of competitive and friendly cricket that is suitable for both the new beginner and the experienced amateur. On Saturday's our three teams compete in the T Rippon Mid Essex Cricket League. The format is a single innings 45-over game that is usually complete within 6 hours. Tea is offered, and while we can't always speak for the opposition, we pride ourselves on always putting out a classic village tea. Our 1st XI compete in Division 1, having been relegated from the Premier Division in 2022. This is the highest standard of cricket on offer at GTCC.

On Sundays, we previously competed in the North Essex Cricket League, however as of the 2023 season we will compete in the Warsop Cricket League. The Warsop Cricket League is again a single innings 40 over game, however with an element of time restrictions. Each inning must be complete within 2 hours and 20 minutes, with a 20-minute tea break. As such games are completed within a maximum of 5 hours. The games are also played in coloured kit, with an orange ball. While the league is competitive the focus of the games should be on enjoyment and the development of youth players. Sunday cricket is ideal for those who prefer to enjoy a more relaxed game, over a shorter period of time.

During the winter, we know many of you cannot stop thinking about cricket. As such we compete in two Indoor Leagues. The first at Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre in Chelmsford. The second at the Northern Gateway Leisure Centre in Colchester. Both leagues are played following the traditional National League format. The Riverside League is long established and we have competed in it since the late 90s, currently the side are in the Premier Division of the league. The Northern Gateway League however is a newly established league of which we were a founding member. The objective of this squad is to offer younger players the opportunity to continue playing cricket throughout the winter and continue to develop their skills.

We have a range of friendly, midweek and touring sides. We compete in a Midweek T20 tournament with the final played during Maldon CC's Cricket Week. We regularly welcome touring sides to Bull Meadow, and indeed ourselves tour regularly. With recent trips to Edinburgh, Cardiff, a Covid postponed trip to Amsterdam & this year we will take over 25 members to Nottingham.
