On the same day that India & Pakistan produced a classic T20 game, Gt.Totham indoor team played Springfield & our game was even more entertaining.
John attempted to find a replacement for the injured Joshua, but no-one stepped up & Jack made his debut for the season. As usual John lost the toss & the opposition put us in to bat. Joshua & Joe opened, the idea being that Joshua couldn't run, so he'd just hit boundaries. This plan didn't exactly go well, as Joshua missed a few, but did hit the walls a few times. Joe realised that Joshua couldn't run, so hit a six next ball. However, Joshua was bowled & then Nick went next ball, a rare duck. In came Jack & he entertained the crowd with a variety of shots, calling & crazy running. Joe went for the big shot again, but didn't quite make it & was caught out, failing for the first time this season. Jamie tried to find the walls before being stumped & Jack was out not long after. John tried to keep going as last-man-stands, but Jack was run out by a freak football kick which produced a direct hit on the stumps. Jack took out his flag & tried to call it offside, but was still given out. All out for 66, not our finest hour.
Joe & Jamie opened the bowling. Joe got a leg side tickle (well done to the batsman who walked) to Joshua, behind the stumps due to injury. Springfield were one down, we were in with a chance!! Jamie & Jack bowled one over each without success. Joe took a caught & bowled, then another one & we weren't as bad as we thought.
John came on to bowl the 6th over, with not many needed. First ball 6 didn't help. But, then a bleedin' obvious glove to Joshua was turned down by the umpire & the batsman didn't walk, as his team mates looked on in disbelief. Next ball, game over.
We lost by a lot, not even half way through the innings. But, I still think we looked like India at times.
