The Indoor Team faced the might of Hutton, who were a few places above us in the league. In previous seasons Hutton have shown that they are a talented team & are usually near the top of the league.
The Indoor Team were helped out by Ed Vale, as there was limited availability. Such was the limitations that Pooky revised his one-armed-bandit role too.
John won the toss & we were in the field.
Ed & Pooky opend the bowling & Hutton managed to pick off 3s, displaying great technique to score a number of runs withiout trying to whack the ball to the boundary. Ed took a wicket, caught by Drew. John bowled one decent over, then one disaster of an over. The batsman casually hit 3 sixes with no effort whatsoever. Joshua was called upon to take over the bowling & promptly took a wicket. Joe took a couple of catches, Drew juggled a catch but held on this week. Hutton had been restricted a little bit, but then accelerated at the end, reaching 161. The fielding wasn't bad, the batting was impressive.
Joe & Drew opened the batting & we did really well. Joe retired following an excellent innings, Joshua hit a six, then was unluckinly caught out off 2 walls. Pooky came in & demonstrated the sweep & other shots that kept momentum going. Drew retired & John recreated Joshua's innings, six & out. But, not before hm & Pooky had run a 6 (2 runs, 1 wall & an overthrow). Pooky retired too, the score was going well, but not enough to reach the Hutton total.
Ed did the honourable thing & got out, allowing Joe to return with Drew. We finished on 142, one of our best scores, against the top team in the leagues. Although we lost, this was a good display, as Hutton are by far the best team in the leagues.
Next week, Hutton again!!!
