Unlike last week, the sun decided to turn up throughout the whole game during Totham's home venture with Eastwood. We were looking to bounce back with a win from our dissapointing loss from last week. But things didn’t start well as skipper G Davis lost the toss and Eastwood opted to bowl.
Tom Batley was joined by Danny Kennedy in our first wave of many batting masterclasses. Tom was stopped early in his travels as he got bowled for 1. He blames it on the skipper Davis as he claims he’s “not an opening batsmen”. On the other hand Danny was looking quite comfortable in bat playing some nice shots.
He was now joined at the crease by John smith who struggled to find a defensive shot in him as he dragged most shots to the leg side. Danny was soon caught out by mid on as he didn’t quite get the right connection with the ball (11). The Skipper joined Mr Smith in another wave the two of them were gaining runs at a steady but comfortable pace with a few questionable shots here and there. Sooner rather than later the Skipper (15) and Smith (4) both threw there wickets away.
Then both dockney and Croft stuck around for a few overs however only getting ducks shortly after. Tothams batting innings was not looking promising. The innings ended with Goochy senior (21) and Goochy junior(0*) battling it out at the crease to gain a dissapointing score of 61.
After a tea break Danny Kennedy opened the bowling along side Davis with some good seam bowling putting the batsmen at ease on occasions. Kennedy went 2-15 from 8.1 overs with 4 maidens in his spell ; definitely slowing down the batsmen in their ventures to chase the score early on.
However, Davis bowled some questionable balls going for 0-20 off 4 overs. Skipper gave Dockney the nod hoping for a revival in the bowling attack but wasn’t provided with ease, with dockney going for 0-16 from 3 overs. Then came the demon spinner we hoped to give the opposition nightmares... John Smith (0-4). However only managed to bowl 1 over due to the opposition chasing our score in the 17th over.
