GTCC travelled to Great Baddow this weekend for a top of the table clash with the winner surly being the favourite for the league title.
Harry Cooper won the toss and put the home side in on what looked like a hard deck with plenty of bounce, something the Totham boys would not be used.
Baddow looked strong up top and although they rode their luck at times runs flowed and the possible catches never seemed to go to hand. 138 was put on for the 1st wicket which was deservingly taken by Will Simpson which on another day would have claimed a hatful with his spell of bowling (1-60) with Ollie Cheeseman keeping it quite tight from one end (1-45) sadly in the last 10 overs more than 100 runs were added and Great Baddow amassed a huge total of 325 in their 45 overs.
With a whole 17 minutes for lunch after 3 and half hours chasing leather Totham were totally refreshed and ready for the job ahead. With Totham getting 55 runs off the first 10 overs it may have seemed that the game was on but just as every partnership got going another wicket (or another good bowling change) put the chase to a stop with only Joe Davis giving any real resistance (49) in a well constructed innings proving he has what it takes to be a permanent fixture in the 1st XI.
Some clean lower order hitting from Joe Smoker (24*) got Totham up to 200 for 9 off the 45 as they were easily swept aside by Baddow who are the best team Totham have met so far this season.
