Chairman's Note July 2020

18 Jul 2020

Dear all,
This is a note earlier in the year that I suspected I wouldn’t be writing this season but Cricket is here and the first round of fixtures for the club are today! Despite the T-Rippon League not going ahead the captains have been busy creating a mini local league, gaining Sunday and Colts fixtures. I was further encouraged when sheer demand dictated that we needed to frantically organise some 3rd X1 fixtures this week which I believe puts us in rude health as a club.

Couple of housekeeping bits if I may-

  1. This season we are not charging Annual Subs for those that don’t want to pay and match fees will be £10 for adults and £5 for students. Key point to note is that we can’t accept cash and ask that match fees are transferred to the club account stating your name and date to sort 60-24-17 Acc 63742519 or on our new club PDQ machine.
  2. All players must be signed up as a free ‘net member’ so that you are covered by our club insurance.   https://membermojo.co.uk/greattothamcc (or you can click join us above)
  3. Understandably there have been changes to the game so that it is deemed safe and the pavilion has further direction on GTCCs approach but please can I ask that we are extra vigilant at all times as we don’t want cricket having a forced closure again. The latest ECB guidance which we adhere to is here https://i.emlfiles4.com/cmpdoc/0/8/7/0/3/1/files/88994_ecb-return-to-cricket-plan-in-step-4_july2020-008.pdf?utm_campaign=11683989_1507202_COVID19_update_Clubs_leagues&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=Email_AdHoc&email=37FDE61A262F6451B7BE38AD07E4CF2A6A46A12E6D1A384559306E2BD18D706E&dm_i=1FT6,6YFF9,7HGCKZ,RZP1I,1

I want to personally thank the committee on behalf of the club for being agile, responsive, and dedicated to getting cricket played at the opportune moment in spite of COVID and the government's confusion on the matter.

Best of luck today, let’s try to be competitive within the spirit of cricket but most importantly enjoy the freedom that sport gives you!

All the best

Richard aka Dicko
