Cometh the club's hour of need cometh the heroes.
Your club needs you, to help out the 3s.
Tim sent out an S.O.S early in the week as there was a distinct lack of availability & the propsect of not playing, therefore being docked 20 points was troubling. St.John's Billericay were below us in the table & would overtake us if they were awarded the win.
The limited numbers slowly crept up, but included a few maybe players, so would the game go ahead? Finally, late in the week, Tim had a team & there was some quality within this bunch of players too.
Jack was captain & failed in his first duty, St.John's Billericay winning the toss & choosing to bat on the hottest cricket day of the season. The openers did well, both scoring decent totals & it took Snail & Jack to take their wickets. Both finished with 2 wickets each. John D also bagged 2 wickets. Danny had great figures, but no wickets. Goochie & Nick took a catch each, and Sam took a stumping. Goochie also managed a run out, imagine being run out by Goochie!!!
St.John's Billericay ended up with 204 for 7, which was a great effort by the 3s.
John D got started, but did not manage to push on, Regan & Nick fell cheaply & Snail & Jack were left to put us in with a chance. Jack got to 30 & Snail got the inevitable 50, before both were out. Danny scored 20, further demonstrating his ability low down the order.
But, the task proved too much for the 3s heroes & St.John's Billericay won by 24 runs.
Well done to all who helped out & the whole team for such a great effort. This should mean that the 3s stay up, providing the last 3 cricket weekends give us the opportunity to get some points.
